My research focuses on Roman architecture, imperial residences and the ways in which space was used to organise, express and perform power.

A central strand of my work examines imperial residences in Italy between the second and early fourth centuries CE, exploring how villas functioned not simply as places of leisure, but as spaces of government, ceremony, movement and interaction between the emperor, the court and the surrounding landscape.
